Description:
Our client is currently seeking a Controller to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, grant reporting, and audit standards (e.g., A-133/Uniform Guidance).
• Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit, serving as the primary liaison to external auditors.
• Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets.
• Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial best practices are upheld in procurement and other financial.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA in NYS required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in nonprofit finance strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to ethical standards, accuracy, and transparency in financial management.
