Description:

Our client is currently seeking an Mechanical Estimator to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Review plans and specifications for commercial and industrial projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and proposals based on project requirements.
• Analyze bid documents to identify scope, requirements, and potential risks.
• Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors throughout the estimating process.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Update cost databases and maintain historical pricing information.
• Collaborate with the design/build team to develop value-engineered solutions.
• Support pre-construction planning efforts.
• Participate in bid reviews and negotiations.
• Maintain organized documentation for all estimating activities.
• Meet bid deadlines consistently.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems and components, including pipe materials and installation methods.
• Experience with maintenance and repair practices, as well as general mechanical maintenance in commercial or industrial settings.
• Ability to provide professional customer service, with clear communication and responsive follow-up to clients, vendors, and team members.
• Experience in mechanical or plumbing estimating, including blueprint reading, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis.
• Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn new tools as needed.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy under bid deadlines.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and industry practices for plumbing and mechanical systems is preferred.
• Prior experience in union mechanical contracting or commercial construction is a plus.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
