Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor outstanding patient accounts and follow up on delinquent balances until payment arrangements are established, accounts are paid in full, or balances are referred for collections.
• Investigate and resolve outstanding insurance claims by contacting insurance companies and patients regarding denied, underpaid, or overpaid claims.
• Submit electronic insurance claims and prepare paper claims for mailing.
• Respond to patient and insurance company inquiries by phone and through written correspondence.
• Process patient and insurance refunds accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide backup support for medical coding by researching and verifying procedure and diagnosis codes, including CPT and ICD-10, as needed.
• Obtain necessary documentation and coding information from physicians and healthcare facilities when required.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all patient records and practice-related information.
• Ensure billing activities are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required.
• Previous medical billing experience is required.
• Knowledge of insurance claims processing and computerized medical billing systems in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to research and resolve billing discrepancies and manage outstanding patient accounts.
