Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Public Health Director to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide leadership and direction for the planning, administration, and management of public health programs and services.
• Oversee the professional and financial operations of the Public Health Department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and program planning.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate public health policies, programs, and organizational goals in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Supervise, direct, and evaluate professional, technical, and administrative staff.
• Work closely with the Board of Health, Board of Supervisors, medical consultants, community partners, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure department programs and operations comply with federal, state, and local public health requirements.
• Monitor department performance, program effectiveness, and quality of services.
• Prepare and present reports, budgets, policies, and recommendations to county leadership and governing boards.
• Support community health initiatives and respond to emerging public health needs.
• Perform extensive travel throughout the county and as required for department operations and community programs.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Public Health is required.
• 4+ years of administrative experience in a healthcare or government organization.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and management skills.
• Experience with budgets, staff management, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance.
• Valid NYS driver’s license or ability to meet travel requirements.
• Must reside in Schoharie County or a contiguous county, or relocate within 6 months of appointment.
• Contiguous Counties Include: Albany, Schenectady, Otsego, Delaware, Greene, Montgomery.
